Lacuna was voted Manila’s first woman mayor after securing 497,752 votes in the 2022 elections.

Before entering politics, she worked as a physician from 1995 to 2004 in the city health office. She then served as a city councilor from 2004 to 2013.

Lacuna served two terms as vice mayor, under former mayors Joseph Estrada in 2016, and Isko Moreno in 2019.

The budget airline’s on-time performance sank to just 50% the previous week, which a Cebu Pacific executive admitted was “bad.” On June 19 alone, the carrier said that it had 10 “unplanned cancellations.” 

Cebu Pacific blamed the frequent flight cancellations on a shortage of spare parts, issues with maintenance scheduling, and lightning alerts which bring airport operations to a halt. 

Philippine Airlines also issued an apology on June 17 for “several flight cancellations,” pointing to “ongoing supply chain delays and unexpected technical issues.”

But this hasn’t stopped affected passengers from airing out their concerns online, complaining about seemingly “arbitrary” cancellations or rescheduling of flights that have ruined vacations and life events.

For its part, Cebu Pacific has denied allegations of overbooking, explaining that passengers may be bumped off in cases when a flight is reassgined to a smaller airplane.

Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa chairs the committee investigating the March 4 Degamo assassination, along with dozens of other killings. The inquiry began on April 17 and ran for three days. (WATCH: LIVESTREAM: Senate inquiry into Degamo killing)

The brazen attack, also known as the “Pamplona massacre,” brought national attention to the long-running problem of unsolved killings in Negros Island.

The death toll in the massacre rose to 10 on Saturday, May 6, when Fredilino Cafe Jr. died two months after he sustained a gunshot wound.

Dela Rosa previously called the killings in Negros Oriental a “reign of terror.”

According to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), over 17,000 soldiers participated in the exercise with 12,200 from the US, 5,400 from the AFP, and 100 from Australia’s military.

Major exercises included command post, cyber defense, field drills, as well as humanitarian assistance activities.

Aside from Metro Manila, activities were also held in northern and central Luzon, and in Antique.
